We started in Bucharest in 2001 as Romania's first specialized technology recruitment firm. 7,500+ placements and 45+ centers later, the question hasn't changed. Our answers have gotten faster, and they come with data.
Our story
Brainspotting was founded in 2001, when Romania's technology industry was a few thousand people and almost nobody recruited for it full-time. We did only that, and we still do: technology and the business services that grew around it. Twenty-five years of doing one thing in one market means we know where the senior C++ community lives, which Salesforce architects are quietly open to a move, and how to introduce an employer nobody has heard of to an entire market.
In the last seven years we've played a central role in launching more than 45 software development centers, digital hubs, R&D structures and Global Business Services operations, not by filling roles one by one but by building teams in the order that works: leadership first, then the organization under it. We've done it in the middle of a pandemic, fully remotely, for a US Fortune 500 that had no office, no local brand and no employees to vouch for it. That center was ranked Romania's most appreciated employer two years later, and its founding leadership still runs it.
We are based in Bucharest and deliver across Europe and Africa, with recent work in Germany, Poland, Serbia, Bulgaria and Spain. A team of 15 consultants, each specialized in a family of roles, and a separate talent intelligence division that interviews tens of thousands of tech professionals and publishes at least eight reports a year on salaries, talent availability, skills and leadership.
Our approach is not "if it works". It is "until it works". And we measure ourselves by what happens after the hire: the five bank IT leaders still in place five years later, the 20-person design team almost intact after three, the clients who built their own recruitment teams and still call us for the roles that stall.
What we believe
A brief is a starting point. Before we search we want to know what the role has to change, who it reports to, what the team looks like and what the market will say to the offer. The search is only as good as that understanding.
Our best clients have been with us for years, through hiring plans that grew, shrank and changed shape. We'd rather be the partner you call first than the agency you tried once.
We work best on exclusive mandates, and we commit accordingly: one accountable team, one pipeline, one standard, no parallel agencies sending the same CVs.
Anyone can fill a role. We follow up years later and ask whether the person is still there, and whether they've grown into more than we hired them for. Often, they have.
The centers we staffed from the first hire became some of Romania's largest and most appreciated employers. That is the kind of work we want: teams that change a company's trajectory, not just its headcount.
